When NADRA Established?
In 1998, the Government of Pakistan established the “National Database and Registration Authority” (NADRA) as the National Database Organization (NDO), an associated body within the Ministry of Interior. The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has received international recognition for its success to compete idagainst entity theft, protect its customer’s interests, and make life easier for the general public. Due to such services the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has received widespread acclaim on a global scale. NADRA has pioneered software integration, data warehousing, and network infrastructure thanks to extensive R&D efforts.
Who Is The Chairman of NADRA?
This esteemed position was attained by outstanding three-star general Lieutenant General Munir Afsar in October 2022, which was a major turning point in his remarkable career. Lieutenant General Afsar’s career has been distinguished by his long tenure in the Pakistan Army’s IT-related technical development and administration, as well as his committed work with Pakistan’s Mission in the United Nations (UN).
The Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) is a monument to his extraordinary accomplishments and is given in appreciation for his great efforts.
He is an MPhil student in National Security Management and Public Policy. Notably, he showed his skills during the 2010 floods by writing a research paper at the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) department on public policy response.
The recently appointed NADRA Chairman completed his MS in GIS and remote sensing, enhancing his academic credentials even further. His paper on quick geospatial data creation by photometry won him a presidential award for his exceptional efforts in this sector. He also has an MS in National Resource Strategy from NDU Washington, with a focus on supply chain management and the C&IT industry.
Lieutenant General Afsar is currently committed to furthering his academic career and is enrolled at NUST Islamabad to pursue a PhD in remote sensing. His work focuses on the creative fusion of artificial intelligence and remote sensing for plant disease identification.
The extensive achievements of Lieutenant General Afsar go beyond the realm of scholarship. His experience as a Military Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Officer at the UN demonstrated his proficiency in IT-related subjects. Furthermore, during Pakistan’s 2010 floods, he was instrumental in creating a GIS application for disaster recovery.
He became the Director General of the DG Command, Control, Communication, Computers, and Intelligence (C41) Directorate while still serving as a Major General. In this capacity, he was in charge of the organization’s overall IT management. He kept up his good work after being promoted to Lieutenant General, first holding the position of Inspector General of Communication and IT and then the Commander of Pakistan Army Cyber Command.
