Nawab Bahawal Khan Abbasi V, Nawab of Bahawalpur State, allowed the construction of more palaces in 1904. Including Gulzar Mahal, Darbar Mahal, Nishat Palace & Farrukh Palace (Mahals). Among these palaces, Gulzar Mahal and Darbar Mahal are prominent and beautiful. Nishat Mahal is notable for its beauty. This palace was built by Nawab Sahib as a women’s house where his wives lived with their concubines. The reddish walls and white stripes of Nishat Mahal are attractive.

Designing of Nishat Palace & Farrukh Palace

The design incorporates elements of Corinthian and Islamic architecture with a subcontinental style. Corinthian influence can be seen in the architecture of columns, balustrades, pediments and vaulted ceiling in Nishat Mahal. The design of this palace is made by fusion of two dimensions. After the independence of Pakistan, these palaces were used by government offices and the rent was paid to His Highness. These palaces were also used as courts in the early days of the Bahawalpur state. After that they were used for assembly meetings. The total area of ​​Darbar Mahal is about 75 acres.
