What is Cantonment Board Bahawalpur?
Bahawalpur Cantonment Board Institution came into existence in 1968, it works under the supervision of the Military Lands and Cantonment Department, Ministry of Defense, Government of Pakistan. Ministry of Defense established a department known as the Cantonment Board to run the daily business of cantonments. The responsibilities of this organization are to improve public health, provision clean and pure drinking water supply, sanitation, and basic education. The civilian population within the Cantonment Board limits is more than one lakh. The area of the cantonment consists of about four thousand eight hundred acres.
Public Health, Education, and Water Supply Infrastructure
Cantonment Board Bahawalpur runs the Cantt Public Girls School and College, Cantt Public Girls High School, and Cantt Public Women’s Skill Development Institutes. There are two public dispensaries for public health care that are contributing to keeping people healthy. Thirteen water filtration plants installed for the general public, are working efficiently under the supervision of the Bahawalpur Cantonment Board, where people get free drinking water. Along with the cleaning of these filtration plants, the filter is changed on time so that people can continue to get drinking water free from arsenic and other toxic chemicals.
Public Parks & Promenades
Bahawalpur Board is trying to ensure that society is made drug-free and healthy, for this purpose five public parks were established under the supervision of the Cantonment Board. Thousand of people come daily for walks, jogging, running, playing cricket, and football. The foremost among these parks is Gulzar-e-Sadiq Park which is named after Nawab Sadiq Khan Abbasi. Apart from this, SS World Park for children is also located within the Cantonment Board limits. Three more parks including Umar Park, Liaquat Park, and Hashmi Garden are also available for the public
